WELCOME TO FHSA Band and Orchestra
All Beginner Band and Orchestra Students will select the instrument
he or she will play during class time.
STUDENTS MUST PURCHASE OR RENT AN INSTRUMENT IN ORDER TO PARTICIPATE
IN THE INSTRUMENTAL MUSIC CLASSES.
FHSA BEGINNERS,
The school has a few instruments for rent on a first come/first served basis. Please find more information about purchasing or renting instruments on the "INFORMATION" tab at the top of this site. Students need to acquire and instrument by Friday, Sept. 9, 2022. (lease, rent, or purchase). Please inquire with Mrs. Thomas for information on purchasing an affordable used instrument. There are several brands students should avoid. Your child will receive a list of recommended brand and “please avoid” brands of instruments.
*** All students who wish the play “the drums,” aka percussion, must audition and, if selected, purchase a xylophone and snare drum combination kit. If the student is not selected, please have a second instrument choice in mind as it takes ALL band instruments to complete our class!
INSTRUMENT RENTAL FEE $ 60.00 due by OCTOBER 7, 2022
DAILY PRACTICE for 20 Minutes at home. (or equal to 140 minutes each week)
PLEASE NOTE THE LRSD GRADING POLICY IN REGARDS TO PERFORMANCES BOTH DURING AND AFTER SCHOOL AND CLASS PARTICIPATION. It is included in the student handbook.

Time -
Students may hang out in the cafeteria while waiting for their audition time. Students may bring money for food or bring food from home. Board games, reading materials, and electronic games/headphones are allowed in the cafeteria to pass the time. (phones completely off for the audition. ALL REGION BAND CLINIC - - (For students who qualify from December Try outs) . Times - TBA
ARTISTRY IN THE ROCK - TBA. ~Students (GIRLS AND BOYS) must wear **DRESS UNIFORM of black pants, black shoes, white long-sleeve shirt with a collar, and a BLACK BOW TIE!!!
Little Rock ALL CITY BAND - SELECT STUDENTS: Time TBA
March Spring Break
Deadline for Solo Assessment fees:
March 6, 2020 $5.50 each solo or ensemble
SOLO and ENSEMBLE ASSESSMENT *: (REQUIRED)
April 14, 2020 at Sylvan Hills MS after school.
SPRING CONCERT *
ALL Music department students in a performance class must perform as stated in the LRSD Handbook.
Orchestra and Beginner Band students will wear an FH Polo with Khakis Bottoms.
Band (2/3) must wear their Band T-shirt with khaki shorts or pants.
Be in the cafeteria, ready to perform by 5:50 .
